Forest friday

We always visit the horse farm on Fridays with all our home schooling friends and head into the forest to explore. So I thought I'd start sharing our Friday forest walk pictures each week. These photos are from the last couple of weeks.

Can you see Isla disappearing into the bushes?

The kids have claimed an old shed as their club house. It's amazing to watch the way they work together and make plans, so organised and industrious! They have great plans and dreams for this space! they have already spent hours clearing it of moss and leaves and spider webs.

Liam repairing the roof.

We saw two wood pigeons! I love these birds! It's very rare to get to see them. The photo isn't so good as I was zooming in on my phone.

Friday forest walk

Are you ready for a forest walk?
He always knows when he's going somewhere because we put his collar on.
My camera is still not fixed, but I'm trying to embrace the photography-with-iphone. It just feel weird not having something substantial in my hands. But I'm kind of getting the hang of it and starting to see the world framed up as photos again like I used to.

There was one amazing autumn coloured tree amongst a forest of green!

Pottery classes

The kids had their last pottery class today. It's always so cool seeing their finished pieces after they have all been glazed and fired.
I want to do classes myself!

They both made wind chime/mobile fishes. Isla made a little dish. Liam made a cup and dish, and a crazy little troll creature.
They also made potted cactus which are being exhibited at the library this week, so we will go along to check out the exhibition and I'll take some pics!

Home schooling adventures - pony time

I know my content on this blog has been a little lacking in the last year or so. When the kids were really little I found I easily had pockets of time when I could get here and share some of what we were up to, but as they grew, those pockets of time became smaller and now they are few and far between. Home schooling fills all our time now, and I'm fine with that, we are too busy living the life to have time to write about it, that's not a bad thing.

We have so many cool adventures homeschooling and we have such an amazing group of homeschool friends in our community, we feel very blessed indeed.
So I thought I would try and share some of the things we get up to. I may not have time to write much here, but it doesn't take long to just share some photos now and again. I know you family that are overseas and out of town will enjoy it :)

Rocks for Liam's collection

And one for mine...
Look at that perfect heart.

(Sorry about the slight fuzziness of my photos, it seems like my focus on my camera is not working all of a sudden - may be an excuse to get a new camera?! ooooh!)

He would bring the whole beach home with him if I let him. I convinced him to just choose the most very interesting rocks. He has a quite a large collection of rocks already, and his bedroom can only hold so much!
I must admit it's kind of cool when you look closely at rocks. From a distance they are just a pile of boring grey fairly shapeless forms. But up close they are all so unique. I'm always curious to know their history - were they once inside a volcano, what pressures have they been under to cause them to be the way they are, how far have they travelled?

Isla actually found this rock, but has kindly let Liam keep it, she says she's not really into rocks ;). Look what we found inside when Liam cracked it open... lots of little crystals and geodes.

He also found some nice pieces of coral, and a few extra bits and pieces, as you do!
