DIY flour shaker

I've had my eye out for a nice flour shaker for a while.
Don't know why I didn't think to do this earlier.

DIY flour shaker

I just used a nail and a hammer to make the holes, probably should have drilled them, but I was in a hurry, once I think of a new idea I just want to do it right away. I figured I can always make a new one later if the messyness annoys me, I have plenty of those metal lids.
I had the jar already, and it's perfect, it's quite narrow so easy to hold and shake.

yeah i'm so impatient :)
The bread is my sourdough I've had going for about a year or so now, just trying it today with fresh ground flour from these people in Rakaia http://www.transitiontowns.org.nz/node/2662 I'll be interested to see how it goes! their prices are really good. - Oh by the way that's just the dough uncooked.

Love this idea. I'm always the sticky fingered woman getting gooey flour everywhere as I attempt to wrangle the flour lid open in the midst of bread kneading. Gonna have to try this.

Great idea - I think I did something similar to this in my student days when I didn't have a salt shaker, although yours is much prettier! I wish those quilted jars were available to buy in the UK.

hmm, great idea! I've been on the hunt for a flour shaker. I think I might get some stainless steel mesh and put that in place of the metal lid. Thanks!
