Merry Christmas

Only 2 days to go. Well one and a half now. I nearly have all my things finished.
It's feeling very Christmassy around here.

I am loving the woody piney smell of the tree and we're listening to lots of 'kissmiss moosic' as Liam calls it.

We've made lots of snowflakes from scrap paper

and I've finally got around to making my wreath for the door.

The stockings are hanging ready for filling.

And we're snacking on these Christmas cookie treats. These are pepperkake, traditional Norweigan Christmas biscuits. Melissa shares her recipe here. They are lovely and spicy and Molassesy.

(The little yellow plate is part of an early Christmas present form my sister. I love the colour.)

We have started a new tradition this year.
I'm calling this the thankyou tree.

It is so easy to get caught up in the crazyness of Christmas. And just get all busy with to-do lists and present buying and making. So I wanted to have something visual that would help us to stop as a family and think about Christmas and what it is we are celebrating, and think about the year that has been.
To stop and count our blessings.
So each little fabric circle that hangs on the tree has something written on it that we are thankful for. Things today and things from our past year.
Our blessings from God.
We have so many things to thank Him for.

So we're all feeling happy and thankful here and looking forward to a little celebration in a day and a half.

I hope you have something nice planned.
Wishing you all a happy and joyful Christmas time.

I stumbled across your blog really enjoyed reading it. I am in love with the crocheted blanket on the back of the couch in your picture. I would be so greatful if you would you share what pattern you used to create it. I searched but couldn't find anything like it anywhere. Thank you so much. Hoping...

oh hello! Thankyou for your kind words. You don't have your email address on your profile so i hope you check back here.
The crochet blanket is one I picked up from an opp shop years ago. So I'm so sorry I don't have a pattern for you :(
I don't even know how to crochet actually! Though I'd love to learn.
I can take some better pictures of it if you wish so you can try and copy it.

Hi Lisa
Oh no I'm not in the least bit offended. I'm sorry I may have made you feel that I was! It's hard sometimes when you are writing and reading things rather than talking to someone isn't it.
I will definately take some pictures for you and email them to you. Talk to you soon.
