Yesterday was another of those lovely sunny days that we seem to be being blessed with this winter (in amongst all the rain of course).
Truth be told, we were all feeling a little grumpy and tired yesterday, after Isla was up for almost 5 hours on Saturday night! No idea what was going on there! And then Aaron had to leave us, for another night away, the second time in the last week.

But you know, it amazing what a little sunshine can do for the spirits :). We made ourselves some muesli slice (which I won't share the recipe of because it didn't work so well, it was rather crumbly, but tasted nice all the same), and a pot of tea, and had ourselves a little picnic, out in the new house extension. There is still a wee way to go to finish our extension, but it is almost closed in from the weather, and we are getting a taste of the nice sunshine we can expect from the big windows - so we have been spending quite a bit of time out there, in amongst the sawdust and bits of wood and paint splatters :)

And that pretty thing we are sitting on? It is my finally finished 'beach-blanket-to-go' from Handmade Home. It hasn't yet been used on any grass or sand, but it certainly will, soon, as soon as the warm weather returns to the south again. Yes I can forsee that it will be seeing a lot of grass and sand this coming summer.

The sun is shining here today too! Your rug is delightful full of colours that are bound to make anyone who sits on it happy! Great job!
It looks like a gorgeous time together!
I love your photos they are so lovely and your quilt is beautiful! I LOVE the vintage look of it!
Oh, Hanna, I adore how your beach blanket turned out. Love! All those textiles are amazing--exactly my taste. If I ever get to visit New Zealand I'll be tempted to spend all my time "opp" shopping! ;)
And I think I spy a sweet Ikea tea set. If it's the one I think it is, I have to give myself a huge pep talk every time to avoid buying it. I love it so (but we have other tea sets . . .) We too are going to have a little baking project tomorrow. It's the summer solstice. Rainer and I have a 'date' to bake cookies.
Don't those days just get your spirits right up again?! Great looking picnic and great looking blanket! I have a sheet just like the one you backed it with and I just love it!!!!! x
That blanket is amazing! I love the fabric you have chosen! I made a very basic one last summer, but I'm saving fabric for another one... Hopefully it will be made before next summer...
I love love love your blanket. I finally finished mine right before babe #3 arrived. I was a huge pregnant mom crawling around with pins late at night those last few weeks!
P.S. You've inspired a picnic tomorrow. I've been thinking about it, but have just gotta do it. Thanks!
What a gorgeous picnic!
nice blanket.
know what you mean about non-sleeping children, Saxon is sitting on my knee while im typing this at 9.45pm! little scally wag!
wheres the pics of the extension, hmmmmm xx
Your blanket is lovely. I made one but the only photos I have of it are when my wee guy ended up in Starship after the lantern festival and I used it to cover him while he napped! I really should pop them on the blog sometime though (or at least the handmade home flickr group).
What a beautiful quilt and such a nice idea to have a winter indoor picnic.
Warm wishes, Tonya
what a lovely picnic! yes, it really does wonders, a little sunlight. beautiful blanket too!
Such lovely lighting for a picnic - I love the little hands with their little tea cups! The knit pants and the homemade quilt all look so cozy! While we are just hitting summer here in Ottawa, your photos are making me wish for the cooler fall days again.
I like the striped knit baby pants, did you make those?

Hi 'Anon' - no I didn't make the wool pants. I did knit a pair a while ago but it took me so long that I've decided I will buy them from now on :)
I love your blanket - it's just gorgeous :)
