ok, just one more

Well for this week anyway. This is kind of becoming an obsession.

From this...

Into this.

I bought the tshirt from the opp shop because I liked the fabric, and intented turning it into a pair of tights for Isla, until I realised how easily it could become a dress. I just made a small hole in the neck band and threaded some elastic through and then stitched down both sides. It took all of about 10 minutes, including the trying on to make sure it was actually going to work and fit her.

She wore it yesterday on our outing to the doctor, yes, fun outing huh. They have both had a nasty cold/cough/conjunctivitis thing that seems to have gone on for almost a month now. We've all kind of had enough. They're both on antibiotics now, so lets hope in a few days we might all be feeling a little happier. I realised after taking this photo before we walked out the door that everything they were wearing was handmade!

These are the pants Isla is wearing, which were freshly made this week too. I used this pattern which I bought some time ago and have made a few pairs of already. The pattern is designed for stretch fabric, but I decided to try it out with woven fabric, crossing my fingers that it would work. I used a corduroy fabric for the gusset that was a bit stretchy, which made it work ok. The main fabric is a very dark blue hemp that my mum gave to me a while ago, it has a nice weight to it, it reminds me of a heavy linen.

And do you recognise Liam's top? It's from my last post :)

Isn't it a lovely feeling when you realise your kids are dressed head to toe in things you have made them. Loving the monkey pants, have been eyeing up this pattern for a while. The upcycled dress looks great too.

It's amazing how many lovely clothing items can be made from cast-offs isn't it? My Ma came around today and whipped up some amazing things out of a couple of old jerseys... I could really learn a thing or two from you both! Perhaps I need to build a better relationship with my machine first though...
